Japanese Mobile Phone

Most of the Japanese population have an ubiquitous cellphone, but not a simple one. The brand names are NEC, Panasonic, Casio, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sanyo, Fujitsu, Kyocera, Mitsubishi Electric and other japanese names, which also exist in rich countries. Thus, Nokia and Motorola are not present (or just in a small quantity) in Japan. Japanese mobile phone are of course equipped with camera, mp3 player, video capability and others, but also with a navigation by GPS, a fingerprint and face certification system for personal data protection, E-money service, electronic wallet, e-mail function, QR-code reader and other functionalities.

In other words, with japanese mobile phones, you can do shopping (yes yes just with your phone), pay your transport ticket, pay your purchase, create a blog, write more longer message than the SMS, use the GPS, watch TV and the channels of the TNT and scan a QR-code (kind or square-shaped barcode) to collect information such as phone number without typing (non-exhaustive list). You can also rotate the screen.

For women, cellphones are indispensable accessories of fashion and for men, they are a kind of swiss army knife.

Personally, I use a cheap cellphone whose brand name is LG and which don’t have a camera or video capability…

Asian series VS American series

I’m going to talk about the differences between Asian series, also called Asian dramas, and American series.
I love Asian dramas because I find them more realistic and more funny. If you are a schmaltsy person, you will love them. I find the actors more handsome and actresses more beautilful… Moreover, good music (OST) accompanies dramas.

Korean Drama
There are two kinds of drama, especially for Korean dramas : a happy end and a tragical or cruel end. They are very famous and successful due to the sad love stories, and also due to the incredible but funny stories. You can see some extract at Youtube. The most popular dramas are “Full House” (happy end), “Sad Love Story”, “Princess Hour” (happy end), “Winter Love song”… However, there is often redundancy between the sad Korean dramas : when somebody is ill, if it’s not a cancer, he is blind.

Their very particular stories with happy end is very attractive. The public is rather for young people (children, teenagers and young adults) than the others. I advise you to see “Devil beside you”, “Heaven’s wedding dress”, “My lucky star”…

The Paris Syndrome

A lot of foreigners who settle in another countries are homesick. They miss their home and their family. The culture is different too. But those are not the only problems.

A strange phenomenon happens to the Japanese. It is a kind of illness which calls the “syndrôme de Paris”. Japanish tourists are also concerned. In fact, they have a totally different view of Paris. For them, Paris is an ideal town and the French are polite and nice. This discrepancy causes mental effects to the Japanese, victim of impoliteness and teases. There is a big gap between the Paris of their dream (a perfect town) and the real capital. Only beautiful monuments and expensive restaurants are filmed. That’s why, the Japanese did not see the other face. A psychologist in Paris helps them to cure their illness. Some of them have to go to hospital and go back home because they became crazy or they want to commit suicide.

Social Networking Websites

Social Networking websites (SNW) has been a phenomenon in the cyber world in the last half a decade or so. It all started in the mid 90′s with the introduction of websites such as classmates.com and sixdegrees.com which connected friends and families through a friendship and trust based social network. Since then other more successful websites such as Myspace, Facebook and Friendster have popped up to become the most visited websites in the cyberworld with total users in the order of hundreds of millions. I to have been using SNWs since 2003 and I am currently using Friendster as a medium to communicate with my friends and I have also started to use Facebook as an alternative in order to keep in touch with friends who don’t use Friendster. I am going to give you the lowdown on some of these websites including their pros and cons.

Facebook

Facebook is currently my favorite social networking websites as it is one of the most interactive. Your are able to ‘poke’ your friends, let them take quizzes as well as being able to exchange gifts. You would be hooked on doing all sorts of things to your friends as well as modifying and updating your profile. It also seems to be a free of those annoying advertisements that seems to be clutter up other similar sites. The best thing about this site is the ability to modify your privacy settings in order to control who would be able to view this your profile. However, Facebook has it’s drawbacks. I find that it’s harder to search for your friends in Facebook. This is primarily because the search feature in Facebook is used to search for people already in your network. You can’t do an advanced search for people outside of your network.

Friendster

I have been using this website since 2003 and I find it simple, really easy to use and very user-friendly. Friendster has not changed a lot since it’s creation in 2002 and because of this it lags way behind in function and interactiveness. An interesting feature in this site is the ability to give testimonials (now known as comments) to your friends. Users are also given the ability to know the number as well as which users have been accessing your profile. Because of the controversial nature of this feature, an anonymous surfing option has been put in place. You also are able to pictures, music and even videos on you Friendster profile but this does not differ from most SNW available on the internet. Bugs tend to be a big problem with this site with all the upgrades but normally they will be dealt with in a matter of hours.I primarily use this site as most of my friends use it and because of it’s simplicity and ease of use.
